Rulers of Mysore kingdom Hyder Ali and Tippu sultan used this Jamia Masjid to perform namaz. Even today local Muslim visit there to perform namaz. There is also a pond beside the mosque which was built by the king Tippu sultan to perform Wudu, an Islam ritual involving washing hands, face and legs. The main exhibit that you have to see here is the stone clock. This clock used to work by absorbing the sunlight. The namaz time was set according to the time shown by this clock.
